Modular Low D Whistle with Interchangeable Headjoints
The Erinflutes Modular Low D Whistle features four interchangeable headjoints, each offering a unique tone, response, and playing experience. As part of the Erinflutes modular system, every whistle headjoint is fully compatible with all Erinflutes Irish flute body sections and headjoints, allowing you to switch between a Low D whistle and an Irish flute using the same instrument.
W1 – Traditional Irish Whistle
The W1 delivers the classic character of a traditional Irish Low D whistle. It offers a balanced response with improved stability in the lower register while remaining easy to play throughout both octaves. An excellent all-purpose headjoint for everyday playing and recording.
W2 – Warm & Easy
The W2 produces a mellow, smooth tone, making it ideal for practice, studio recording, and relaxed playing. It requires very little air pressure and responds effortlessly in the second octave. The lighter back pressure offers excellent expression but requires slightly more breath control on the lower notes
W3 – Session Volume
Designed for musicians who play in Irish music sessions, the W3 provides significantly greater projection than the W1 and W2. Its volume is comparable to an Irish flute, helping the Low D whistle cut through in group settings while maintaining a clear, focused tone.
W4 – Maximum Projection
The W4 is the most powerful headjoint in the range, producing a bold, textured tone with exceptional volume. Developed for live performances, solo playing, and leading the melody, it requires higher back pressure and is recommended for experienced players seeking maximum projection.
